Swap for upcoming group meeting

We had to make a holiday (eek, Christmas already) swap for our upcoming meeting. I really wanted to use my Snow Swirls set and tried to make it work, but just wasn't happy with the outcome. Leaving for vacation on Tuesday, so I just don't have time to make another one. Hopefully the gals won't be too let down.

Ohhhh Hello Kitty is here!

J's Knicknacks have their shipment of Hello Kitty dies in! They are soooooooo cute. Would have bought the whole lot, but had to restrain myself, lol. Here are some of the dies that I purchased:

So of course that night I came home and had to play with them. I made Joy this 3x3 card holder box with three little 3x3 cards inside. Her favorite color is purple, hence the purpleness, lol!

You ladies have been tagged!

Here are the rules...
1. Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog. Jackielou
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

7 Things about me:

1. I was a theatre major in college, oh I am a thespian geek. If that wasn't bad, I went on to get my master's in Theatre History, Theory and Criticism. Major geek....lol.

2. Right now I am addicted to Heroes and Dexter and even look online to try and find episodes. Even Netflixed them too.

3. I like to bake, mostly desserts. My hubby is the cook in the family though.

4. Have a designer purse fetish/addiction. The more expensive the better, lol. I even have some purses that I won't carry because I am afraid to get them dirty/exposed to air, lol (Joy can attest to that).

5. Wish I were a interior designer. How fun would that be!

6. I hate Cilantro! Took this from Jackielou list, but can understand. If the food has even a hint of Cilantro, I can't eat it.

7. and another addiction.....Diet Coke. Drink like 3 a day, but I don't drink coffee, so that is how I justify the 3, hehe.

And the 7 people I would like to tag are:

1. Enjoli
2. Denise
3. BJ Smith
4. Kate
5. Susie
6. Julee
7. Maria

Your it!

Rak from Joy and 2 Joy, hehe.......

Joy gave me the cutest card yesterday. Isn't it the cutest.

I also gave her a rak too. It is one of those file-like things with little note cards inside. I used four medium sized envelopes for the file part. The graphics are from the same company that Joy's owl card came from and it is called Little Dreamer Designs

The inside had 4 matching little note cards. Enjoy and aloha!

New Toy

Okay I am not being paid by Martha Stewart, but I was at Walmart today and I found the coolest new toy! They just started carrying the MS brand here in Hawaii. Anyhoo, I was wandering through the scrapbooking section and found this Circle Cutter.

Its awesome, it works on a lazy susan type mechanism. Their are 3 blades that can fit into the handle of the cutter. You can make circles from 1" to 5 1/2", and at 1/16th increments. The blade is double sided so you can twist clockwise or counter. Cool, yeah. I have used the Coluzzle and the CM cutting systems, but this one is pretty cool, and it fits in my tool bag.

Got some scratch paper out and was fooling around with it. The system is pretty smooth. Wanted to try it out before buying it for gifts and stuff. Hope this was helpful!

Thanks Joy!

My BFF, Joy, gave me and my daughter the cutest little raks last night. She gave my daughter this cute little package with a Hello Kitty coin purse and a little note book. I told her it was from Aunty Joy and she said "ohhhhh sooooo cute!"

She then gave me a bunch of buttons (now I can do Jen's challenge, lol). But not just the buttons, she put them in this cute little tin container and put Hello Kitty paper on it and made it all cute! Isn't she the best! She has been having a rough week, so I think I should be the one rak-ing her. Thanks Joy! I hope things get better! I appreciate you sooooooo much!

Nugget Tin for Joy

After my Build-a-Brad earring class, I had the left over little box. I thought, wouldn't this make the cutest little nugget box. So I decided to make Joy (my BFF) a little nugget box out of Urban Garden (I think my new favorite) and Eastern Blooms. I wish I had more of these little boxes to make some for Christmas. If anyone knows where you can get these (either in Hawaii or online) please let me know.

A peek inside:

Enjoy and aloha!

Mermaid Thank You Card

Did I tell you how much I love my new Mini Mermaid Whipper Snapper stamp? I love it, love it,love it! Isn't it the cutest little thing! I made Joy a thank you card for giving me the cutie. Just love it!

Used a bunch of my inks and blender pens and did a watercolor technique and then went over the image with my pens. Really liked how this one came out. Stem sayings for the sentiments and my giga scallop circle and mega circle for the image. I also used my Cuttlebug Embossing folders to put a bubble-like emboss on the top and bottom. A little dazzling diamonds for bling and there you go! Enjoy and aloha!

Small Origami box with matching earrings

My SU group has a monthly meeting where someone coordinates a project. This month it is me. I really wanted to make a bracelet made out of build-a-brads and rhinestones, but for 16+ people, that would be pretty costly. So instead I decided to make earrings and a matching little origami box.

I used the DSP paper in Close to Cocoa for the top and followed the following instructions for the origami box:
Tutorial for Origami Box

The bottom was made out of Pretty in Pink CS that I cut 4"x4" and scored at 1" all the way around. Snipped two side on each side and folded up to make a box bottom. The origami fold on the CS is just too hard and comes out looking a bit funny. I put a strip of Pretty in Pink CS over the top of the box and adhered some Chocolate Chip Taffeta ribbon.

The earrings were made by using jump rings and hooks that I got at a local craft store. Used the 1/2" circle punch on a scratch piece of coordinating DSP and then attached them all together using some pliers. Really simple, but kind of cute, yeah. Let me know if you would like instructions or have any questions. As for me, wish me good luck tonight on my project with all of the stamping pros, lol. Aloha!

Gift Card Holders for upcoming workshop

I am doing a workshop with the gals at Joy's work on the 26th. Here are the two gift card holders that we are going to be making:

This first one is a criss-cross design. I used Urban Garden DSP, Eastern Blooms and Heard from the Heart stamp sets.

The inside acts like a file folder to hold the card in.

The second one is a little book with a section to hold the gift card. I used my fav, Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set, Bella Rose DSP and some Real Red grosgrain ribbon. Hope the ladies like it!

Pic of the inside. Used my word punch and a circle punch to get the inside. Enjoy and aloha!

Little C's Weekly Challenge #8

Jen over at Pieces of Me has a weekly sketch challenge every week. I have never done one, but have always wanted to. Had these new Penny Black stamps that I wanted to use. The center stamp is a Whipper Snapper. If you haven't visited Jen over at her blog, you should! She has really great ideas!

Eastern Blooms and Urban Garden Gift Card Holder

Made this super easy gift card holder for my friend Maria. She just bought a new house so I thought I would surprise her with a gift card from Williams-Sonoma (to fill up her new kitchen).

I started with a piece of Not Quite Navy CS at 4 3/4"x 7 1/2". I scored the long way at 3" and 6". Put a piece of 4 1/2"x 2 3/4" Urban Garden DSP on the front flap. On the inside put a coordinating color of Urban Garden DSP cut at 1 1/4"x 4 1/2". Had some 12"x1" pieces of Urban Garden in my scrap box, so used that for the belly band. Stamped two different flowers from my Eastern Garden stamp set and put Dazzling Diamonds on them. Mounted them on top of each other and added a half pearl accent with a glue dot. Then added it to the belly band with a dimensional off-to-the-side.

Stamped using my Heard from the Heart set on the inside and attached two Not Quite Navy brads at the corners to keep the gift card in place, and tadah! So easy! Hope you enjoyed this! Aloha!
